Parent committee to aid SW on programs for English learners

On April 12, 2017, Southwest Campus held its first English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meeting.

The purpose of ELAC is to advise the campus director and staff on programs and services for English learners and the development of the School Improvement Plan (SIP), to assist the school in the development of the campus needs assessment and to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.

ELAC is composed of parents of English learners. At the first meeting, approximately 20 parents attended and were given an overview of the committee. Parents were also nominated to head the committee by filling the positions of president, vice-president, liaison and secretary.
