Pre-Thanksgiving Day lunch gives families a chance to give thanks a week early

Thanksgiving is traditionally a day for families and friends to get together for a special meal.  During this time people give thanks for what they have.

The Southwest Pre-Kindergarten luncheon was celebrated on Thursday, November 20, 2014.  This event was a huge success!  There were more than 100 parents and relatives who came to have lunch with our students.  The students were happy to share this moment with their family members.  Food preparation took place the day before the event.  It was all smiles as I walked through the cafeteria knowing that for some families, this will be their only celebration of Thanksgiving due to economic factors.

We look forward to the upcoming Holiday/ Winter celebration on December 12th.  We love having parental participation on our campus.  Research shows that when schools, families and community groups work together to support learning, children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer and like coming to school more.  Establishing a strong parent-school relationship are key factors for meaningful communication that benefit the children,
