Parents get head start at the Early Childhood Center

More than 90 families were represented on Saturday, August 10, for a student orientation event at the Early Childhood Center.

Families were able to meet the teacher, purchase uniforms and complete all documents that are usually sent home on the first day of school.

Parents were strongly encouraged to take an active role in their child's education. They learned about the PTO, Very Important Parents (VIPS) and how they can volunteer on campus. Families also were informed on ways the campus will communicate with them this year, including the use of the Remind app, Class Dojo, the school's website (prek.varnett.org), the classroom monthly newsletter and the weekly parent communication sheet. Students and their families were excited to meet the Early Childhood staff and begin on this new journey.

School starts on Monday, Aug. 19, and the hours will remain from 8 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. weekdays. Breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m.
