Students at the Early Childhood Center celebrated "Dr. Seuss Birthday Week" last week and each day came with a dress-up and character theme.
  • Monday: Red shirts and blue jeans
  • Tuesday: Thing One and Thing Two, two main antagonists from The Cat in the Hat book.
  • Wednesday: Main character in The Cat in the Hat.
  • Thursday: Yellow shirts and black pants honoring Dr. Seuss's Sleep Book
  • Friday: Dressed as their favorite characters and watched the movie the Cat in the Hat.

The whole week was designed to encourage children to read and to become immersed in the Dr. Seuss characters.

Dr. Seuss, whose real name was Theodor Seuss "Ted" Geisel, was a children's author, political cartoonist, illustrator, poet, animator, screenwriter, and filmmaker. His birthday was March 2,which is also known as Read Across America Day.

According to https://www.timeanddate.com/, Read Across America Day "promotes reading, particularly for children and young adults.  Many schools, libraries, and community centers across the United States participate in the day by bringing people together to take part in reading books."
