About 235 Pre-K students donned masks and costumes to celebrate Carnival Day at the Southwest Pre-K campus.
Parents and staff joined the fun as the youngsters went "trick-or-treating" through various classrooms followed by outdoor playtime activities including the "Moon Walk" during a chilly day.
Students had fun at face-painting and other booths and unleashed a ton of activity before and after lunch. School Board Member Thomas Johnson mingled with students and staff. In the end, 10 students were judged to have the best costumes and paraded through the classrooms to the applause of their school mates.
Carnival Day will continue on Saturday, Oct. 29. for the rest of Varnett's students at all three campuses. The event is designed to allow students and their families to have a fun day in an organized fashion before the official day of Halloween, which is Monday, Oct. 31.
