Students celebrate Christmas in many, merry ways

There was no official Christmas program Thursday, Dec. 19, but students and staff had fun anyway.

This was a day for free spirits as students made decorations, danced, roller skated, participated in Santa’s workshop, watched movies and played games. In effect, it was a Christmas-type recess with assorted activities throughout the campus. Lots of parents joined the fun, too.

Of course, the food was popular as students ate in the cafeteria or took their food outdoors. A dancing team took to the parking lot, with two students sporting Santa Claus attire, and entertained students who sat on the curb.

At Southwest PreK, teachers and students went from classroom to classroom to sing Christmas songs. Many parents tagged along as well, watching and taking pictures.

At the main campus, assistant facilities coordinator Terrell Russell and transportation coordinator Kerry Shelton served as DJs, spreading music throughout the campus.

Nurse Allen handed out packets containing information about  Medicaid, Texas Children’s Health Plan, free family movie nights, Texas Poison Center Network and coloring books and crayon packages from the Houston Police Department.

“Every student from kindergarten through fifth grade received a packet,” Nurse Allen said. “I wanted them to have something for the holidays.”
