Cafeteria converted into a museum for Hispanic Heritage Month

Southwest Prek converted its cafeteria into a National Hispanic History Month museum and invited parents to share lunch Thursday with their children.

The staff added a festive touch to the cafeteria with traditional artifacts belonging to our students celebrating their own countries & cultures  displayed in the cafeteria.

We compiled a presentation video that was visible for all to view while enjoying a traditional Hispanic meal prepared by the SW Prek cafeteria staff.  Hispanics trace their heritage to the following countries that were colonized by Spain and continue to use Spanish as an official language:  Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

This event was an excellent opportunity to celebrate the cultural diversity and heritage while appreciating the uniqueness of all our Hispanic members of our community and the Varnett Public School. We want to thank all of our Prek SW parents  participated, volunteered and attended our luncheon.
