Happy birthday, Dr. Seuss! Theodor Seuss Geisel (yes, that's his real name) was born March 2, 1904. His timeless books were celebrated not only for their inventiveness, but for the messages they bestowed upon their readers.
At the Varnett Southwest Pre-K campus, we celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday with a student parade around the entire campus. We also sang "Happy Birthday" to Dr. Seuss with our kindergarten and 1st grade classes from the Southwest Campus.
Famous Dr. Seuss quotes include: "Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You" and "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you will learn, the more places you'll go."
Wearing "The Cat in the Hat" hats, the students heard stories from "Hop on Pop," "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish," "Horton Hears a Who!" "Horton Hatches the Egg," "Are You My Mother," "Green Eggs and Ham," and "Fox in Socks."
Ms. Jacqueline Hines also provided her Pre-k students Dr. Seuss-related treats to take home.
