Chick-fil-A cow helps celebrate 4-year-olds with perfect attendance

Chick-fil-A's renegade cow, who encourages people to eat chicken instead of beef, took time from his self-preservation campaign to pose for pictures with Southwest Pre-K students who registered perfect attendance during the first six weeks of school.

The company mascot visited the campus cafeteria Monday as 56 students were honored for not missing a day of school.  Each student received a Chick-fil-A gift card, a perfect attendance certificate and a pencil as they hugged the mascot and posed for pictures.

Chick-fil-A at Meyerland Plaza is a new community sponsor and partner of the campus. The mascot’s presence delighted the happy children and the parents who showed up for the presentation. The goal of The Varnett Public School and each of its campuses is to achieve at least a 98 percent student attendance rate.

Why is attending school so important?

Three groups of Pre-K4 entertained teachers and parents by counting to 20, naming the months of the year and reciting the days of the week. They also sang a new attendance song.

Students were recognized for coming to school on time every school day with no early departures.

Ms. Pamella Thomas, the campus parent liaison, thanked the parents for doing their part to ensure that their children come to school on time every weekday.
